Description:

Sometimes when you are on holiday you would like to visit places of culture, but then, having to choose, you could easily decide to spend some hours just relaxing at the sea.

With the excursion to the Grotta delle Ossa (Bones’ Cave), this choice is no longer necessary.

Located near the magnificent Natural Arch, a majestic monument created by Mother Nature, and reachable only by sea, this cave of immense beauty is one of the liveliest and most beautiful testimonies of the prehistoric period.

It is very close to Cala Longa, just to the south, towards the mouth of the Mingardo river.

The Molpa rock completely dominates it, arriving from the sea there is a pebble beach and the wonderful arch of the cave, a prelude to stalactites and stalagmites in whose rocks it is possible to see fossilized remains of human and animal bones, perfectly recognizable: they give name to the cave.

Among these, the unmatched spectacle of the bones of one of the symbolic animals of prehistory: the mammoth.

The excursion is suitable for all. The Grotto can be reached by boat, and the path to get there is already a fairy tale: it allows you to see the majesty of Capo Palinuro from the sea. Once you arrive, the view of the Grotto and the swim in the beautiful waters in front of it are an experience not to be described, but to live.
