Just close to the village of San Giovanni a Piro, not far from the Sanctuary of the Madonna di Pietrasanta, there's one of the most evocative places of the Cilento: the Pianoro di Ciolandrea.
It is called "The Terrace of Cilento", or "The Viewpoint of Four Regions" for its privileged point of view, able to embrace in a glance Campania, Basilicata, Calabria and Sicily.
In fact it offers a wonderful view of the Gulf of Policastro and the entire coast of the Marine Park Costa degli Infreschi and Masseta, the coast of Basilicata, where it is clearly visible the Christ of Maratea, the Calabrian coast and, on clear days, Stromboli and the Aeolian Islands.
The walk will begin from the Sanctuary of Maria Santissima di Pietrasanta, one of the "Seven Sisters" or the 7 Marian sanctuaries of Cilento, a place of great historical, artistic and naturalistic value.
From there, on an onroad path suitable for everyone, walk will first reach the Ciolandrea plateau and then the #307 Big Bench, the Giant Bench of the artist Chris Bangle, part of an artistic project started in 2010 and now spread throughout Europe.
