Land of The Sirens: Parthenope, Leucosia, Molpé

Description:

The Land of the Sirens: Parthenope, Leucosia, Molpé

The myth of the enchantresses par excellence, retraced in a journey where mythological tale merges with a landscape of unparalleled beauty.

For thousands of years, Sirens have been protagonists of world literature, from Odysseus to Orpheus, from Homer to Apollonius of Rhodes, from Libanius to Pseudo-Apollodorus, up to classical philosophy: in Plato's Cratylus, in Iamblichus, who recalls the significant role of the Sirens for the Pythagorean school of the acusmatici, for whom they are part of harmony, and the Song of the Sirens is the Music of the Spheres.

Following these premises, this cultural itinerary unites some of the most beautiful stretches of the Campania coast—rightly called the Land of the Sirens, indisputably among the most beautiful places in the world—in a journey leading from Naples to Cilento, passing through the Sorrento Peninsula and the Amalfi Coast.

Parthenope, the eldest, from the Greek “the virgin” (note that the root of her name is the same as the Parthenon), who gives her name to Naples and its children, still called Parthenopeans today. Leucosia, “the white one”, who gives her name to the islet opening the Cilento coast and to its Punta Licosa Marine Protected Area.

Molpé, “the graceful one with a voice that inspires nostalgia”, who gives her name to the promontory and cliff of Molpa in Palinuro, another natural wonder filled with the scent of another myth: that of Palinuro, helmsman of Aeneas, eternalized by Virgil in the Aeneid.

A journey fully modular in duration, type of accommodation, and included services (restaurants, transfers, etc.), whose distinctive trait is the reinterpretation of places, from the most famous to the least known, through millenary and deep cultural traces.

Naples, Sorrento, Massa Lubrense, Sirens' Trail from Torca to Colli di Fontanelle, Sant’Agata sui Due Golfi, Positano, Nerano and Li Galli, Punta Licosa (MPA), Palinuro and La Molpa, Marina di Camerota and the Island of the Sirens.
